Export and import iCal calendars or reminder lists

If you want to move a copy of all the events from one calendar to another calendar on the same computer, another computer, or on a different calendar account, you can export the calendar’s events and then import them into another calendar. For example, you can move all the events from a calendar in the Calendars pop-up list under the heading “On My Mac” to an iCloud calendar.

You can also move a copy of all the reminders from one reminder list to another. (Reminder lists are available in Mac OS X version 10.7.2 or later.)

Export events from a calendar

  1. In iCal, click Calendars, and then select the calendar (click the name of the calendar) that contains the events that you want to export.
  2. Choose File > Export > Export.
  3. Choose a location for the export file, and then click Export.

The events are exported as an iCalendar (.ics) file.

If you no longer want to use the calendar you exported, hide the calendar’s events or delete the calendar.
