Shortcuts for Mouse Keys

When Mouse Keys is turned on in Universal Access preferences, you can use the keyboard or the numeric keypad keys to move the mouse. If your computer doesn’t have a numeric keypad, the U, I, O, J, K, L, and M keys may have numbers on them. Press the Fn key as you press these letter keys to use them as a numeric keypad.

Letter keys that can be used as a numeric keypad when Mouse Keys is turned on.

If the letter keys don’t have numbers on them, use the table below to map the numeric keys to the keys on your keyboard.

Turn Mouse Keys on or off

Press the Option key five times. (You must first select “Press the Option key five times to turn Mouse Keys on or off” in the Mouse pane of Universal Access preferences.)

Move up

Move down

Move left

4 (U)

Move right

Move diagonally

1 (J), 3 (L), 7 (7), and 9 (9)

Click the mouse button

Hold down the mouse button
