OS X Lion: Set up iDisk syncing
Once you’ve created a copy of your iDisk on your computer, changes you make to it are automatically synced with your iDisk on MobileMe. To learn more about creating a copy of your iDisk on your computer, click the link below.
Use the Sync menu in the menu bar to see when your iDisk was last synced.
Though your iDisk syncs automatically at set intervals when you’re connected to the Internet, you can manually sync it at any time. This is useful if you want to make sure that the changes you made to the iDisk on your computer are copied to your iDisk on the web before you log out, shut down your computer, or put your computer to sleep.
- Select the iDisk icon in the sidebar on the left side of a Finder window.
- Click the Sync button to the right of the iDisk icon.
If you’re trying to do other tasks on a low-bandwidth network, you can turn off automatic syncing. Select the iDisk icon in the sidebar, and then, from the Action pop-up menu (looks like a gear), choose Automatic Syncing to remove the checkmark.
It’s a good idea to keep your iDisk set for automatic syncing whenever possible. To turn automatic syncing back on, select the iDisk icon in the sidebar and choose Automatic Syncing from the Action pop-up menu. (When automatic syncing is enabled, a checkmark appears next to Automatic Syncing in the Action pop-up menu.)
If you log out, restart, or shut down your computer while iDisk is syncing, the syncing of your iDisk will continue when you log in again.
