Shortcuts for Mission Control and Exposé

Use these shortcuts to hide, show, and manage windows.

Note: The instructions below refer to the Mission Control key on your keyboard. You can also press Fn together with the F9, F10, or F11 keys. If your keyboard doesn’t have an Fn key, omit Fn from the key combination.

Exposé keyboard key

Show all open windows

Swipe up using three or four fingers.

Mission Control key, or Fn-F9

Show all windows in an application

Press and hold the application’s icon in the Dock, and then choose Show All Windows or Show Recents from the shortcut menu that appears over the icon. The smaller thumbnails are for closed documents you recently worked in.

Hide all open windows and show the desktop

Command (⌘)-Mission Control key, or Fn-F11

Make a window active and hide the current application

Option-click a window.

Option-click the Dock icon.

To change the shortcuts for Mission Control and Exposé, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Mission Control.
