iMovie for iOS (iPad): Delete a video clip from your device

Delete a video clip from your device

You can permanently delete a video clip from your device as long as it’s not in the Camera Roll or the Photos app. If you already used the video clip in a project, you must remove the clip from the project before deleting it from your device.

Delete a video clip from your device

  1. Open the project that contains the video clip you want to delete.

  2. If the Video browser isn’t visible, tap the Video button on the left above the project timeline.

Note:   If your iPad is in portrait orientation, first tap the Media Library button in the upper-left corner of the screen, then tap the Video button at the bottom of the window that appears.
  3. Tap the Edit button in the upper-left corner above the Video browser, then tap the Delete button for the clip you want to delete.

Clips that appear with an orange line along the bottom are being used in the project and must be removed from the project before being deleted. Clips that appear dimmed are already in the Camera Roll and can’t be deleted from within iMovie.
