Set your Mac to log out when not in use

You can set your Mac to log out the current user automatically after a set period of inactivity. This helps ensure that your information is secure when your Mac is unattended.

  1. Click the lock icon to unlock it, then type an administrator name and password.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Select “Log out after ... minutes of inactivity.”
  4. Set the amount of inactivity time before the user is automatically logged out.
