Safari 6 (OS X Mountain Lion): Delete bookmarks

Delete bookmarks

If you’ve bookmarked webpages and no longer need the bookmarks, you can delete them in your Safari bookmarks list.

  1. Open Safari if it is not already open.
  2. Click the open-book icon to view your bookmarks list.

    Bookmark list button

Note: The sidebar on the left shows collections, such as the bookmarks bar or other collections you’ve created. Individual bookmarks are listed on the right. If you can’t see the list of bookmarks because Cover Flow view is covering it, drag up on the handle below the Cover Flow scroll bar.
  3. Select any bookmarks or collections you want to get rid of, and then press Delete.

You can’t remove the bookmarks bar or Bookmarks menu from the sidebar. You can’t remove History, but you can delete individual bookmarks within it.

To add or remove Contacts (Address Book if you have OS X Lion) and Bonjour from the sidebar, open the Bookmarks pane of Safari preferences and select or deselect them.
