Safari 6 (OS X Mountain Lion): Automatically complete forms

Automatically complete forms using Safari

When you need to fill out a form on the web—for example, if you need to register for a class or make a purchase—Safari can complete the form for you.

  1. Open Safari if it is not already open, and then go to the webpage that contains the form.
  2. Click in a field in the form and start typing.

Safari tries to find information for the field, checking your Contacts card (Address Book card in OS X Lion) and information you entered on previous forms. Safari displays a list of matches.

  3. Select the correct item in the list of matches, and then click AutoFill. To bypass the menu, press Return.

If Safari doesn’t find a match, you have to complete the field yourself.

Safari highlights in yellow any fields that were autofilled.
