OS X Mountain Lion: If a disk can’t be repaired
If you see a message saying OS X can’t repair a disk, you may need to reformat it or replace it.
- Back up as much of your data as possible, reformat your disk by partitioning it, and then restore your backed up data.
- If you continue to have problems with your disk, it may be physically damaged, and you may need to replace it.
