Apple Deployment Programs: Upgrade account to access all programs

Since February 2014, Apple Deployment Programs offers new programs in addition to the Volume Purchase Program (VPP). If you enrolled in the VPP prior to this date, you will need to upgrade your account to an Apple Deployment Programs account. Once you upgrade, you can enroll in additional programs and access additional features such as creating Admin accounts. Follow the steps in this article to upgrade your account.

VPP for Business

The first time you sign in to the Apple Deployment Programs website, your VPP account will automatically upgrade to an Apple Deployment Programs account. Your account will then have access to create additional Admin accounts for purchasing apps and books on the VPP store. To access this service, you will need to enable two-step verification on your account.

Note: For security reasons, there may be a delay of up to 72 hours before two-step verification is enabled, depending on the strength of your current password.

VPP for Education

If you're already enrolled in the VPP as an educational institution, you have either a Program Manager account or Program Facilitator account. Based on this, you may or may not need to take any action to upgrade (detailed below).

Program Manager (Agent)

Program Manager accounts are used to create Program Facilitators (Admins). Note that a Program Manager account is now called an Agent account. Follow the steps below under Upgrade Your Account.

If you would like to continue to add new Admins without upgrading your account, you will still need to enable two-step verification on your account. Note: For security reasons, there may be a delay of up to 72 hours before two-step verification is enabled, depending on the strength of your current password.

Program Facilitator (Admin)

Program Facilitators (Admins) can only log in to the VPP store but not the Apple Deployment Programs website. These types of accounts can't be upgraded, but can be moved to a new Agent account if the Program Manager upgrades the account.

Upgrade your account

Upgrade if you're an educational institution with a Program Manager account and would like to enroll your institution in other deployment programs such as the Device Enrollment Program or Apple ID for Students.

  1. Re-enroll in the appropriate VPP program on deploy.apple.com using a different email address than your existing account. A new Apple ID will be created for you.After the enrollment is approved (you'll receive an email), send a request via the appropriate web form:

  2. Choose Other from the drop-down menu.

  3. In the "Please tell us more" section of the form, explain that you would like to transfer your VPP account information to the new Apple ID. Please include both the old Program Manager Apple ID and the new Program Agent Apple ID created on deploy.apple.com. Also include any Program Facilitator Apple IDs that you would like to transfer to the new account.

  4. Complete the rest of the form and submit.

After the account is upgraded:

  • You will be able to apply for other Apple Deployment programs available in your country or region.

  • Program Facilitators will be listed as Admins under the new deploy.apple.com account.

  • You will be able to create new Admins which can then also create other Admins.

  • You can choose which program or programs your new Admins can administer if you are enrolled in multiple programs.
