Mac computers: How do I configure PPPoE on a new computer?

Summary

When you set up a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2012 and later), MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012 and later), Mac Mini (Late 2012), or iMac (21.5-inch or 27-inch, Late 2012) the Setup Assistant does not offer to configure PPPoE connections. Follow the steps below to set one up on your new Mac.

After setting up a user account and completing the Setup Assistant:

  1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu.
  2. Click Network. 
  3. Be sure your PPPoE interface is connected to your ethernet port or ethernet adapter.
  4. Click the plus sign.
  5. In the Interface pop-up menu, choose PPPoE. 
  6. Click Create. 
  7. Enter the account information for Service Name, Account, and Password
  8. Click Connect.
