Mac computers: How do I configure PPPoE on a new computer?

When you set up a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2012 and later), MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012 and later), Mac Mini (Late 2012), or iMac (Late 2012 and later) the Setup Assistant does not offer to configure PPPoE connections. Follow the steps below to set one up on your new Mac.

After setting up a user account and completing the Setup Assistant:

  1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu.
  2. Click Network.
  3. Be sure your PPPoE interface is connected to your ethernet port or ethernet adapter.
  4. Click the plus sign.
  5. In the Interface pop-up menu, choose PPPoE.
  6. Click Create.
  7. Enter the account information for Service Name, Account, and Password
  8. Click Connect.
