About Apple Configurator 1.1

Learn about Apple Configurator 1.1.

Apple Configurator 1.1 is a recommended update for all Apple Configurator users. This update is available from the Mac App Store.

What’s new in this release?

  • Improved reliability and ease of use when installing paid apps with Volume Purchase Program redemption codes.
  • A new preference to disable the automatic removal of apps or profiles installed by the user when a configuration is reapplied to a supervised device.
  • A new preference to disable reapplying a configuration each time a supervised device is connected to Apple Configurator.
  • The profile editor now indicates when a profile cannot be installed on a supervised device due to a missing value in a required field.
  • The profile editor now warns the user if the profile is missing fields that are required for installation to supervised devices.
  • VPP codes are no longer marked as invalid if the App Store is unavailable.

Additional Information

In previous versions of Apple Configurator, Refresh was available in the Devices menu to force a refresh (reset the device to the specified configuration, for example to ensure that the correct settings, apps, profiles, and so forth are on the device) of a supervised device. In version 1.1, the "Apply" button becomes the "Refresh" button when no changes have been made to the supervised device's configuration. This is especially useful if you have disabled the preference to automatically refresh when a supervised device is connected via USB.
