OS X Software Updates are available for MacBook Pro (15-inch, 13-inch, and Retina Mid 2012), and MacBook Air (11-inch and 13-inch, Mid 2012)

How Can I install the most recent version of OS X?

From the Apple () menu, choose Software Update. Install any updates related to OS X.

How can I tell if I have the most current software installed already?

From the Apple () menu, choose About this Mac.

  • If you have OS X Lion v10.7, you should see Version 10.7.5. Click Verson to see the specific Build Number. If you see the following then you are up to date:
    • MacBook Pro (13-inch and 15-inch, Mid 2012): 11G63B.
    • MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012): 11G63B.
    • MacBook Air (11-inch and 13-inch, Mid 2012): 11G63B.
  • If you have OS X Mountain Lion v10.8, you should see Version 10.8.2. Click Verson to see the specific Build Number. If you see the following then you are up to date:
    • MacBook Pro (13-inch and 15-inch, Mid 2012): 12C3103 and 12C3012.
    • MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012): 12C3103 and 12C3012.
    • MacBook Air (11-inch and 13-inch, Mid 2012): 12C3103 and 12C3012.
  • If you do not see these Build Numbers, you should run Software Update until there are no more available updates listed for your computer.
