OS X Server: Configuring services for users of Active Directory or third-party LDAP servers
OS X Server may require additional configuration to provide services to users with accounts in an Active Directory domain or non-Apple LDAP directory.

For several of the services listed below you may need to enable clear-text authentication. If you do, it is very important to also set up SSL to prevent passwords from being sent over the network in the clear. Some services may still warn you that passwords are being sent in the clear, but as long as SSL is used they will actually be encrypted.
