Keynote: Supported file formats

Learn which file formats you can use with Keynote for Mac (6.0 or later) and Keynote for iOS (2.0 or later).

Keynote for Mac and Keynote for iOS support importing:

  • Keynote '09 (5.0 or later)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint - Office Open XML (.pptx) and Office 97 or later (.ppt)

Keynote for Mac (6.0 or later) supports exporting:

  • Keynote '09 (5.0 or later)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx and .ppt)
  • PDF
  • QuickTime
  • HTML
  • Images
  • ZIP Archive (Supported in Keynote for Mac 6.1 or later)

Keynote for iOS (2.0 or later) supports exporting:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Keynote 2.0-2.1 exports .ppt files
    • Keynote 2.2 and later exports .pptx files.
  • PDF

 

Additional Information

Keynote for Mac (6.0 or later) and Keynote for iOS (2.0 or later) use the same file format. Presentations you create or work on in Keynote for Mac you can open in Keynote for iOS and vice versa.
