iTunes Store: Purchasing and managing auto-renewing subscriptions

Some third-party content provider apps from the App Store, as well as on Apple TV1 (2nd or 3rd generation), offer the ability to purchase auto-renewing subscriptions.

If you've purchased an auto-renewing subscription from within an eligible app or on Apple TV1(2nd or 3rd generation), it will be listed under the Manage App Subscriptions section of your Account Information Screen.

Note: If you've purchased a third-party subscription through Apple TV12nd or 3rd generation, you will need to sign-in to your iTunes Store account on your computer or iOS device to modify or cancel your subscription.

Managing auto-renewing subscriptions on an iOS device

To manage auto-renewing subscriptions:

  1. From your device's Home screen, tap App Store.
  2. Tap Featured t the bottom of the screen.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  4. Tap the Apple ID button in the lower-left corner. (If you are not signed in, tap the Sign In button, and sign in with your Apple ID. Then, scroll back to the bottom of the page, and tap the Apple ID button.)
  5. Tap the View Apple ID button.
  6. Enter your password and tap OK.
  7. From the main account page, scroll down and tap Manage App Subscriptions. If you don't have app subscriptions this button will not be displayed.
  8. From the Subscriptions page on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, tap the subscription that you would like to manage.
  9. Depending on the subscription, you'll have the option to manage different subscription categories.

  10. Once you tap a subscription, you'll see its subscription status and available options.

  11. Tap the desired renewal option to select it, and then tap Subscribe.

  12. You will see a confirmation window asking you to confirm your purchase.
  13. Tap Confirm to proceed with your purchase.

Turning off auto-renewing subscriptions on an iOS device

If you want to view your app subscriptions:

  1. From your device's Home screen, tap App Store.
  2. Tap Featured at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  4. Tap the Apple ID button in the lower-left corner. (If you are not signed in, tap the Sign In button, and sign in with your Apple ID. Then, scroll back to the bottom of the page, and tap the Apple ID button.)
  5. Tap the View Apple ID button.
  6. Enter your password and tap OK.
  7. From the main account page, scroll down and tap Manage App Subscriptions. If you don't have app subscriptions this button will not be displayed.
  8. You'll then be taken to your App Subscriptions page.

To turn off auto-renewal:

  1. From your Manage App Subscription page, choose an app subscription.
  2. Tap the subscription category for which you want to disable auto-renewal.
  3. Tap On to toggle the switch to Off.

  4. You'll receive a confirmation message; tap Turn Off to confirm your choice.

Managing auto-renewing subscriptions on a computer

To manage auto-renewing subscriptions:

  1. Launch iTunes on your computer.
  2. Choose Store > Sign In from the iTunes menu.
  3. Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted.
  4. Choose Store > View My Account. You may be asked to re-enter your Apple ID password. Click View Account.
  5. From the Account Information screen, scroll to the bottom of the page to the Settings section.
  6. Click Manage to the right of Subscriptions.

  7. From the Manage Subscription screen click on the subscription that you would like to manage.
  8. On the Edit Subscription screen, you will see the current subscription status and available options.
  9. Choose the desired renewal option by clicking Subscribe.

  10. You will see a confirmation window asking you to confirm your purchase.
  11. Click Subscribe to proceed with your purchase.

Turning off auto-renewing subscriptions on a computer

To turn off auto-renewal:

  1. Launch iTunes on your computer.
  2. Choose Store > Sign In from the iTunes menu.
  3. Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted.
  4. Choose Store > View My Account. You may be asked to re-enter your Apple ID password. Click View Account.
  5. From the Account Information screen, scroll to the bottom of the page to the Settings section.
  6. Click Manage to the right of Subscriptions.
  7. From the Manage Subscription screen click on the subscription that you would like to manage.
  8. On the Edit Subscription screen, you will see the current subscription status and subscription details.
  9. Click the Off radio button to turn off Auto-Renewal.

  10. You will see a confirmation window asking you to confirm.
  11. Click Continue to proceed.

    Note: When you turn off auto-renewal, you will no longer continue to be billed for your subscription, however your subscription will continue until it expires.

Opting out of special mailings and offers

During your purchase, you may be asked to allow or disallow the publisher to have access to your name, email, and zip code for special mailings and offers from the publisher. Simply tap Allow or Don't Allow; neither choice will affect the terms of your subscription. If you choose to allow the publisher access to your name, email, and zip code, your information will be treated in accordance with the Licensor's privacy policy.
