Issues in Mac OS X (iCal)

  • If calendars do not appear in iCal immediately after upgrading MobileMe Calendar, quit iCal and reopen it or see this article for more troubleshooting.
  • Mac OS X v10.6.4 (or later) is recommended for all users. Earlier versions of Mac OS X may not behave as expected. For more information on using Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard with MobileMe Calendar, see this article. Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger cannot use MobileMe Calendar.
  • iCal's Export Archive feature is not recommended for backing up MobileMe Calendar data.
  • Calendars that were published in iCal to MobileMe will be unpublished as part of upgrading MobileMe Calendar.
  • Third-party calendar plug-ins, calendar clients, and non-Apple devices are not supported.
  • Depending on how you first set up MobileMe Calendar, you may see duplicate data in iCal. For details about resolving duplicates, see this article.
  • Subscribed calendars must have their location set to the MobileMe account in order to sync with other computers or iOS devices.
  • To move local data to the MobileMe Calendar server, calendars must be exported as ICS files and reimported. See this article about setting up iCal for more information.
  • Resetting Syncing or SyncServices will not impact MobileMe Calendar and should not be used as a troubleshooting step for MobileMe Calendar.

Issues with the Calendar at me.com

  • Changes to calendars and events made elsewhere will appear at me.com/calendar within minutes.
  • Calendar alerts will only display in your browser if you are logged in to me.com/calendar. However, other devices and computers syncing with MobileMe Calendar will still show the alert.
  • Subscribed calendars can't be viewed, created, or edited at me.com.
  • The Birthday calendar at me.com is updated once every 24 hours.
  • Firefox may warn about storing data on your computer for offline use. Selecting “Allow” will improve performance, but should not be used on a shared or public computer.
  • While in List view, the Today button will not take you to the Today view if there are no events scheduled for the day. Instead, it will take you to the nearest day that has an event.

Issues on iOS

  • After updating to iOS 4.2, iPad users may notice duplicate calendar data. See this article for details.
  • The Calendar - specifically me.com/calendar - is not accessible on Mobile Safari on the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. However, it can be accessed via the built-in Calendar app on each of these devices.
  • iOS 4.1 is required for iPhone and iPod touch (iOS 4.2 is recommended). iOS 4.2 is required for iPad. Previous versions of the iOS are not supported.
  • Sending, accepting, or declining invitations to a shared calendar cannot be done on an iOS device. Shared calendars must be accepted from iCal or at MobileMe Calendar at me.com on a computer.
  • Calendars cannot be created, renamed, or have their color changed from an iOS device.

Issues on Windows

  • Outlook 2007 or 2010 32-bit are required; Windows XP, Vista, and 7 are supported; 64-bit Outlook is not supported.
  • Subscribed calendars will not sync to Outlook. Outlook can manually subscribe to published calendars.
  • MobileMe Reminders cannot be viewed, created, or edited in Outlook.
  • Syncing calendars with third-party plug-ins and devices may no longer work as expected.
  • Shared calendar management cannot be done from Outlook. To manage shared calendars (share, accept a share, change settings, or unshare), go to me.com.
  • Accepted calendar invitations are automatically added to the default calendar in Outlook, but not the MobileMe calendars.

General issues

  • Calendar Groups are not supported.
  • There is no web view of a publicly-shared calendar in a web browser (unless it is your own calendar). However, publicly-shared calendars can be subscribed to and viewed in Mac OS X, Outlook, or iOS devices.
  • Before upgrading MobileMe Calendar, make sure your most recent data appears at me.com/calendar. Only data that appears there will be migrated.
  • The Birthday calendar color does not sync between iCal, me.com/calendar, and iOS devices.
  • The Birthday calendar data depends on where you are viewing it from. For example, if you have a contact on your iPhone but not at me.com, that person's birthday will appear in the Birthday calendar on the iPhone, but not at me.com/calendar.
