What is a third-party product?

You might wonder what the phrase "third-party product," found in some Apple documentation, means.

A third-party product refers to a product that's produced by a company other than Apple. Third-party products may have the benefit of a manufacturer's warranty provided by the product manufacturer - please see the product box and literature for details.

If you need help with a third-party product that you purchased from Apple, you may either contact the company who made the product, or contact your Apple point of purchase.

If you need help with a third-party product that you did not purchase from Apple, please either contact the company who made the product, or the retailer that you purchased it from.

Who are the first and second party? Technically speaking, Apple is the "first party."

"Second party" usually refers to the person using the product.
