Xsan 2: Switching a controller's metadata Ethernet interface

Summary

On some occasions a user may require a change in the Xsan controller metadata network interface. Note that all clients and controllers should have an interface that is on the desired subnet.

Products Affected

Xsan 2, Xsan 2.1, Xsan 2.2

To accomplish this in Xsan 2 and later:

  1. Use Xsan Admin to stop the volumes (see below).
  2. In Xsan Admin select Overview.
  3. In the lower right corner, click the gear icon and choose "Edit SAN properties".
  4. Select the Metadata Network that you want to use.
  5. Click Save.

Note: If all controllers and clients are not on the same subnet on each network, the Save button will be dimmed. Adjust the clients and controllers so they are on the same subnets.

  6. Restart the volumes.

If you are not familiar with the process for starting or stopping volumes with Xsan Admin, refer to the Xsan 2 Adminstrator's Guide.
