Archived - iPod nano (5th generation): How to use the station Seek feature for FM radio

iPod nano (5th generation) has a built-in FM radio, allowing you to listen to your favorite FM stations after connecting your earphones or headphones to your iPod. Using the Seek feature, you can scan the available radio stations in your vicinity.

To use the radio station Seek feature for the FM radio on iPod nano (5th generation), press the Next/Fast-forward (▶▶❙) or Previous/Rewind (❙◀◀) on the Click Wheel to seek the next or previous available radio station.


  • If you set a marker for a Favorite radio station on your iPod, the Seek feature will find only Favorite stations. In this case, the Seek feature will allow you to switch between your tagged Favorite radio stations.
  • If you set a marker for a Favorite radio station and you wish to use the Seek feature to find the next available station (not a Favorite station), press and hold Next/Fast-forward (▶▶❙) or Previous/Rewind (❙◀◀).
  • Next/Previous will change stations only when the radio tuner bar is visible.

1 Radio signal icon Appears when the radio is on and receiving a signal.
2 Favorite station markers Indicates that the current station is in the Favorites list.
3 Station frequency Displays the frequency of the station to which the radio is tuned.
4 Tag icon Appears if the current song supports iTunes Tagging.
5 Progress bar Indicates the length of the radio buffer.
6 Radio dial Tunes the FM radio.
7 RDS data Displays the current station, song, and artist.
