iCal, Mac OS X v10.6: About adding an iCal account stored on a Mac OS X Server v10.5 iCal Server via kerberos authentication

Summary

Use these steps to add the account:

  1. On the client, open iCal and choose Preferences from the iCal menu.
  2. Click Accounts.
  3. Add an account and leave the account type as Automatic.
  4. Enter the account name and password.
  5. Click Create.
  6. Enter a description for the account.
  7. Click Create. Ignore this alert that will appear: "No CalDAV servers were found for 'servername'."
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Change the following settings in Calendar Server Options:
    • Change Account Template from None to iCal Server.
    • If you are using SSL, leave it selected. 
    • If you are not using SSL, uncheck (deselect) "Use SSL" and enter the port number that your iCal server uses. The default port is 8008.
    • Check (select) "Use Kerberos v5 for authentication".
       
  10. Click Create.
