Archived - iPod nano (5th generation): Available capacity displayed on iPod is different from what's displayed for the device in iTunes

When viewing the available capacity for the iPod nano (5th generation) in iTunes, the amount displayed is lower than that shown on the device itself in iPod > Settings.

The difference between the available capacity displayed in iTunes and what's displayed on the iPod is due to the space on the device reserved for video recordings and voice-memo recordings. In other words:

  • The iPod nano capacity displayed in iTunes is that available for syncing media content, such as songs, videos, movies, and so on through iTunes.
  • The iPod nano capacity displayed on the iPod is equal to the amount displayed in iTunes plus the space reserved for video recordings and voice-memo recordings.
