MobileMe
Improvements available with iPhone OS 3.1:
Find My iPhone
- Ability to remotely set a passcode lock for an iPhone/iPod touch.
- When selecting the "play a sound" option with Display a Message, the sound is played at the loudest volume, not at the volume of the ringer.
- When enabling Find My iPhone, if Fetch New Data is set to Manual, users are warned that Find My iPhone will not work.
Calendar and Bookmark Sync
- Subscribed calendars in iCal now automatically sync with iPhone and iPod touch. Learn more.
- When setting up a MobileMe account on an iPhone or iPod touch, Bookmarks can now be merged with existing Bookmarks on the device.
MobileMe Gallery
- Resolves an issue that prevented some MobileMe members from publishing pictures or movies to their MobileMe Gallery from an iPhone or iPod touch due to entering a username with uppercase characters.
Improvements available with Mac OS X Snow Leopard:
Mac Sync
- Reduces the frequency of data change alerts.
- The data change threshold for a sync alert can be set in the Sync tab of the MobileMe System Preference.
MobileMe iDisk
- The Sync menu extra spins whenever an iDisk sync is occurring.
- A new option in the iDisk tab in the MobileMe System Preference allows for automatic conflict resolution, always keeping the most recent version of the file.
- The Conflict Resolver includes Quicklook support allowing users to review the contents of many file types and determine which version to keep.
- Improves automatic sync reliability.
Back to My Mac
- With a compatible Airport or Time Capsule, you can connect to a sleeping Mac running Mac OS X Snow Leopard (must select the option to "Wake for network access" in the Energy Saver System Preference). Learn more.
MobileMe Gallery
- Movies created or opened in QuickTime Player can be published directly to your MobileMe Gallery.
Improvements available with MobileMe Control Panel 1.5 (for Windows)
- An existing MobileMe calendar can be made the default Outlook calendar. Learn more.
- Resolves several issues that may have resulted in incorrect ordering of bookmarks when syncing between Internet Explorer and Safari.
- Support for Microsoft Windows 7.
