Archived - Mac OS X Server v10.6: Mail.log contains encryption warnings after upgrading

The Mail Server mail.log may contain encryption warnings after upgrading to Mac OS X Server v10.6.

For example, alerts such as these may appear in the mail.log:

  •  warning: no entropy source specified with parameter tls_random_source
  •  warning: encryption keys etc. may be predictable

This article has been archived and is no longer updated by Apple.

For improved Mail Service encryption, update to Mac OS X Server v10.6.3 or later.

This update defines /dev/urandom as the source for tls_random_source, to improve encryption.
