MobileMe: Microsoft Exchange data in iCal and Address Book will not sync with MobileMe

Summary

With Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, you can configure Address Book and iCal for use with a Microsoft Exchange server.

Exchange and MobileMe syncing can be used at the same time, and you can see all of the data on your computer and on the Exchange server. However, data on the Exchange Server will not sync with MobileMe.

Products Affected

Mac OS X 10.6, MobileMe

In Address Book, anything that is in the "On My Mac" Group heading will sync with MobileMe, and anything in the Exchange group will be on your Exchange server (and will not sync with MobileMe). A combined view of all data is available if you select "All" in the Group list of Address Book.

In iCal, anything that is in the top "Calendar" section will sync with MobileMe, and anything in the under the Exchange calendar section will be on your Exchange server (and will not sync with MobileMe).

If you are able to do so, and you want the data on your Exchange server on a different computer, configure that computer for use with your Exchange server (for more information, contact your network administrator). To access your Exchange data on your iPhone/iPod touch, see the Exchange ActiveSync Account Quick Setup Guide.

If you would like to sync your Exchange contacts and calendar data with MobileMe, copy it from the Exchange section of Address Book or iCal to the All Contacts section of Address Book or to a Calendar in the Calendars section of iCal.

Additional Information

While in the All view of Address Book, you may appear to have duplicate contacts if you have the contact entered both on your Mac as well as on the Exchange Server.
