Can't manually add location data to photos in some cases

Summary

iPhoto '09 may be unable to assign a location to photos if you've enabled the Parental Controls and set the "Look up Places" feature to "Never". You can select a new location, but the location may not be applied to the photo. To assign a location to your photos with Parental Controls enabled, follow the instructions below.

  1. Open iPhoto and choose Preferences from the Apple () menu bar.
  2. Select Advanced.
  3. In the Advanced window, choose "Automatically" from the drop down box labeled "Look up Places".
  4. Close Preferences.


iPhoto should now assign location information to photos as expected.
