MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009): Pop or noise when using analog audio output

You may occasionally hear a "pop" or sudden noise with the analog audio output on the MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009) when you wake the computer from sleep and the audio output is set to Sound Input.

To avoid this issue, make sure to select "Use audio output for: Sound Output" in the Sound panel of System Preferences before putting the computer to sleep.

To select this preference:

  1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu.

  2. From the View menu, choose Sound.

  3. Select the option "Use audio port for: Sound Output".
