AirPort Extreme/Express, Time Capsule: How to find the serial number

You can find your serial number in several places:

• On the surface of the device
• Using AirPort Utility
• On the original product packaging
• On the original receipt (or invoice)
  

On the surface of the device

Depending on your model, the serial number is located either on the bottom or side of the device. Refer to the images below.

Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme Base Stations (802.11n)

The serial number is located on a gray strip on the bottom of the device:

AirPort Express

The serial number is located on the side of the device, next to the AC power plug:

AirPort Extreme Base Station (earlier than 802.11n)

The serial number is located on a label on the bottom of the device:

Using AirPort Utility

You can use AirPort Utility 5 or later to find the serial number of any 802.11n-based AirPort base station (including Time Capsule) or of AirPort Express 802.11g.

1. Open AirPort Utility (in the Utilities folder).
2. Select your AirPort product.
3. Click Manual Setup.
4. Click AirPort in the Toolbar.
5. Click the Summary tab.

On the original product packaging

If you still have the original packaging for the product, you can find the serial number on the barcode label that is affixed to the packaging.

On the original receipt (or invoice)

Some retailers may include the serial number of your AirPort on the receipt.
