To identify a MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2009), look for the following notable features:

  • The trackpad area is a combination trackpad and trackpad button, together in one surface. Previous MacBook Pro 17-inch computers have a trackpad button separate from the trackpad surface.
  • All I/O ports are located on the left side of the computer.
  • Two displays are available. The new standard display has a glass cover and the optional antiglare display has a metal frame surrounding the display, similar to previous 17-inch MacBook Pro models.
