MobileMe: Naming files and folders on your iDisk
Summary
You can usually name files on your iDisk whatever you want, but you should not begin a filename with a period.

MobileMe
Only use a period (.) to separate a filename extension from the rest of the name. Don't begin a filename with a period. In many UNIX-style operating systems, a file whose name begins with a period is "hidden". Although a file whose name begins with a period may be visible on your desktop in Mac OS 9, it will become invisible or hidden once you copy it to your iDisk. Since the file is actually on the disk, it will take up a portion of your allotted space. For example:
- Valid filename: image.jpg
- Invalid filename: .image.jpg (note the period at the beginning of the filename)
