MacBook and MacBook Pro (Late 2008) and later: What to do if migration is unsuccessful

If your migration to a MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008) or MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008) is not successful and you encounter one of the symptoms below, refer to the recommendation below.

  • "Connection Lost" message
  • No message
  • Unsuccessful pairing
  • Migration stopping after pairing occurs

Choose Software Update from the Apple () menu to download and install the Migration and DVD/CD Sharing update to the MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008) or MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008) computers you are migrating to and from, then try your migration again.

MacBook Pro and MacBook Air computers released in 2009 and later do not require the installation of this update, but the computer you are migrating from might need the update.  Apply the update to that computer and try the migration again.

Additional Information

See About the Migration and DVD/CD Sharing Update for more information on the Migration and DVD/CD Sharing update.
