About the MobileMe August 2008 update

Summary

This article provides more detailed information about some of the recent improvements and the resolution of known issues that Apple delivered in the August 2008 update to MobileMe services.

Apple is always working to improve MobileMe. Since MobileMe is primarily a server-side, or "cloud"-based, service, the MobileMe team can make improvements and push updates to MobileMe without any action being required of MobileMe customers. Since server-side updates are a bit more innocuous than a standard software update to Mac OS X or Microsoft Windows, it's easy not to notice that updates are occurring.  Usually the only hint of these updates is that things just "work better".

All MobileMe services

  • Improved and more accurate error messaging and notifications from MobileMe web applications and services.

MobileMe Accounts

  • Resolved a user-interface issue where Family Pack accounts would be recognized as standard subscriptions in MobileMe preferences in Mac OS X.
  • Addressed an issue in which updates to billing information might not work.
  • Resolved issues which complicated managing Family Pack accounts and purchasing upgrades while using Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.
  • Addressed issues with Family Pack management and account creation.

MobileMe Mail

  • Improved the behavior of auto-complete addressing in MobileMe Mail.
  • Addressed an issue in MobileMe Mail in which users were unable to delete multiple messages simultaneously.
  • Improved the reliability of the Compose window in MobileMe Mail.
  • Addressed an issue with transitioned .Mac members where custom From field settings were not used when addressing messages from MobileMe Mail.

MobileMe Calendar

  • Improved calendar performance with recurring events.
  • Improved International Time Zone handling.

MobileMe Contacts

  • Fixed an issue that could cause incomplete information to be displayed for Contacts found via Search.
  • Improved Contact editing functionality from me.com/contacts.
  • Improved the performance and addressed compatibility with Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  • Improvements to MobileMe Contacts search in Firefox and Internet Explorer so that functionality provided has parity with what is offered in Safari.

MobileMe iDisk

  • Improved compatibility with third-party web browsers and general upload performance.
  • Performance enhancements when rapidly negotiating iDisk directory structures via a web browser

MobileMe Sync

  • Improved Address Book and MobileMe Contacts synchronization performance.

MobileMe Web Gallery and Publishing services

  • Resolved an issue with the resolution of MobileMe Personal Domains for domains using the Montenegro country code.
