Summary

This document is about the internal backup battery.

Products Affected

iMac (Flat Panel)

Your computer has a backup battery that preserves certain settings when the computer is off.

You may need to replace the backup battery if
· settings, such as date and time, change when you start up your computer
· you have intermittent problems starting up your computer

Note: If your computer is plugged into a power strip, turning off the strip will drain the internal battery and shorten battery life.

IMPORTANT: The internal backup battery is not user-replaceable. If you need to check or replace the computer's battery, contact an Apple-authorized service provider.

Replacing the battery may cause some settings on your computer, such as date and time, to revert to the factory default settings. You may also have to restore modem settings in any communications programs you are using.
