iMac (Flat Panel)
Your computer is designed to be on all the time. When you're finished working on your computer, you can put it to sleep. When you wake it later, your computer's ready to use in a few seconds.
When your computer is asleep, it consumes less than 5 Watts of power, about the same as a night light.
To put your computer to sleep:
· Choose Sleep from the Apple menu.
To wake your computer when it's asleep:
· Press any key on the keyboard.
When you wake the computer from sleep, your programs, documents, and control panel settings are exactly as you left them. This lets you return to your work more quickly.
Your computer will also automatically go to sleep after a certain period of inactivity to save energy. You can set the time before your computer automatically goes to sleep in the Energy Saver control panel.
There are times when you must turn off, or shut down, your computer:
· before you add or remove memory or an AirPort Card
· when you won't be using your computer for several days
To turn off your computer:
· Choose Shut Down from the Special menu.
