Summary

Learn to connect audio equipment for inputting sound to an eMac, eMac (ATI Graphics) or eMac (USB 2.0) computer.

Products Affected

eMac

You can use your eMac's built-in microphone to record sound or give spoken commands to your computer. You can also input sound into your computer from audio equipment, such as a USB microphone or a tape deck.

To use USB audio equipment, connect it to a USB port on your computer (above). To use analog audio equipment, connect it to the Audio input port using a 3.5 millimeter stereo miniplug (below).
Note: The Apple PlainTalk mic does not use a standard 3.5mm stereo miniplug and cannot be used with the eMac Sound input port.

If necessary, select the device you want to record from (open System Preferences and click Sound), then use your favorite sound-recording application to record.

Note: The Sound preference panel does not allow adjustments to the sound level. Most sound-recording applications however do allow this. If the sound level is too low or too high, change the level in the sound application.
