iMac (Flat Panel): How to Connect an External Microphone

Microphones allow you to record sound and give spoken commands to your computer.

To connect an external microphone:

1. Connect a USB microphone to one of your computer's USB ports.
2. Place the microphone at the top center of your computer.

Or follow these guidelines:

• Place the microphone 1-3 feet from you. (See the instructions that came with the microphone.)
• Place the microphone directly in front of you to minimize the effect of background noises.
3. Use the Sound control panel to select the appropriate microphone as the sound input source.
