This document describes how to import audio tracks from a CD into Soundtrack.

In Soundtrack 1.2 and later, audio tracks can be imported directly from an audio CD. In earlier versions of Soundtrack, follow the steps below to import an audio track from a CD directly into Soundtrack.

Note: QuickTime Pro is required to complete these steps.


  1. Open QuickTime Player.
  2. From the File menu, choose Import.
  3. Navigate to the audio CD and select the track you want to import.
  4. Click the Open button.
  5. From the File menu, choose Export.
  6. In the Save panel, from the Export pop-up menu, choose Sound to AIFF .
  7. Click the Options button .
  8. From the Compressor pop-up menu, choose None .
  9. Set the sample rate and bit depth to match your Soundtrack project using the Rate and Size options (the default is 44.1 kHz/16 bit)
  10. Choose Stereo.
  11. Click OK in the Options panel.
  12. In the Save panel, navigate to your Desktop (or inside your project folder) and click Save.
  13. Drag the resulting file from your Desktop into the tracks area of the timeline.
