Final Cut Express supports AVCHD-based tapeless camcorders that use a USB 2.0 cables to record to Flash Memory, Hard Drive (HDD), and DVD media.
Note: Some Final Cut Express compatible random access devices have both a USB and FireWire port. These camcorders should be connected using only the USB port.
Due to the wide range of media types and the different ways manufacturers store video on these media types, not all tapeless camcorders work with Final Cut Express. Apple has tested the products listed on this table. Final Cut Express may not fully work with other similar camcorders. Some compatible Final Cut Express features include device recognition when the device is connected to a Mac, display of import control for the specific device, and import of the video to Final Cut Express for viewing and editing.
Note: You will need an Intel-based Core Duo Mac or better to work with AVCHD.
