Many of the Final Cut Studio applications include additional content, such as templates, fonts, and audio content, that you can choose to install. In most cases, you can also choose custom locations to place this content, such as a second hard disk or a custom folder.

Tip: Content items that you can place in a custom location have a folder icon in the Location column of the Custom Install pane. You can choose the location to place the content by clicking this folder.

Important: Avoid choosing the root level of your Mac OS X boot volume as a custom install location for Final Cut Studio content. If you choose the root level of your Mac OS X hard drive, unexpected results may occur, and the content might get installed in default or alternate locations.

As a workaround, you can create a new folder at the root level of your hard drive, and then choose that folder as the location in the Custom Install pane of the Installer. Alternately, you can choose the root level of another hard drive (not your Mac OS X startup disk) as the custom install location.
