iPod nano: About Shake

Summary

The Shake feature available on iPod nano (4th generation) and newer models allows you to shuffle your music by simply shaking iPod nano from side to side.

Shake can be disabled in two ways to prevent accidental activation of the feature:

  • If iPod nano has a hold switch, set the hold switch on the top of the iPod nano to ON.
  • For iPod nano (6th and 7th generation), from the Home screen, tap Settings > Music and then tap the On/Off switch next to "Shake to Shuffle".
  • For iPod nano (4th and 5th generation) Turn off the Shake feature by choosing Settings > Playback on iPod nano
