My AirPort signal strength is very weak
Summary
If your AirPort signal strength is weak, the following steps will help you resolve the issue.
Products Affected
AirPort Card
- From the Apple menu, choose About This Mac.

- In the resulting window, click More Info to open System Profiler.

- In the System Profile window, select AirPort Card from the left column under Hardware.

- If you see information about your AirPort Card in the panel to the right, your computer recognizes your card. Move on to step 5. If no information is displayed, click here to troubleshoot an unrecognized card.
- Check your AirPort antenna. If the antenna is not plugged in all the way, that could limit your AirPort range. Make sure that it is connected securely to the card.
- Test out your signal strength again by connecting to your wireless access point, such as an AirPort Base Station or another wireless router. If your reception still doesn't improve, read our AirPort: Potential sources of interference article. For general troubleshooting information, see The AirPort troubleshooting guide.
