Summary

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and Mac OS X Server version 10.5 Leopard requires Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) version 3.2 or later. Earlier versions of ARD do not work with Leopard.

Updating to Apple Remote Desktop 3.2

To install Apple Remote Desktop on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or Mac OS X Server version 10.5 Leopard

  1. Install Apple Remote Desktop 3.0 from its installation disc.

    Note: After installing ARD 3.0, you will be unable to run the Remote Desktop application (if you try, an alert message will appear, stating "The Remote Desktop Administrator software does not match the installed Client software version. The Remote Desktop Administrator software must be upgraded on this computer" and you will only be able to quit the application).
  2. Download and install the Apple Remote Desktop 3.2 update via Software Updare or from Apple Support Downloads.
  3. After updating, you will be able to use the Remote Desktop application.

Note: Your ARD 3.0 software serial number is required as well.

To update an Apple Remote Desktop 3.x installation after upgrading a Mac OS X 10.4 or Mac OS X Server 10.4 to Mac OS X 10.5

1. Download the Apple Remote Desktop 3.2 update via Software Updare or from Apple Support Downloads.

2. Run the installer package for Apple Remote Desktop 3.2.

After upgrading, you will be able to run the Remote Desktop application.
