iWeb: Publish to your MobileMe account from more than one computer

All the information iWeb needs to create your website is in one file called "Domain."  If no Domain file exists, you will be prompted to create a new site. A new Domain file is created for you when you save a website in iWeb.

If you want to add to or update your published iWeb website from multiple computers, there are a few things you will need:

• You will need iWeb 1.1 or later installed on the computer from which you plan to publish.
• If you are using multiple computers, you must use the same version of iWeb on each computer. To view what version you are using, choose File > Get Info when your iWeb application is selected.
• You will also need an external storage device to save and access your Domain file among multiple computers. This can be a folder on your iDisk, your iPod, a USB thumb drive, or an external hard drive.

Follow these steps to move your Domain file

1. Quit iWeb and locate the Domain file. The Domain file's default location is  ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb (where "~" represents your home directory).
2. Move the Domain file to your external storage device.
3. When you log in to another computer that has iWeb installed, find the Domain file on your external storage device, save it to your local machine at ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb, then double-click the file to open it with iWeb.

iWeb will use the Domain file from this location, and you will now be able to publish your iWeb site using this newly saved Domain file moving forward.

Although you can have several Domain files, all websites you want to publish to your MobileMe account should all be kept in one file.

Important: If you use the same Domain file on different computers, be sure that you always use the latest version of the file. Otherwise, when you publish, you may overwrite your site with old information.
