When your iPod is connected to an electrical outlet using the Apple iPod AC adapter, an animated battery icon with a lightning bolt should be visible in the center of the device's screen. If you do not see this icon and suspect that the AC adapter is not charging device's battery, connect your device to your computer's built-in FireWire or high-powered USB port. You should see an animated battery icon with a lightning bolt appear in the upper right corner of iPod's screen. This icon indicates the battery is charging.

If the animated battery icon appears when connected to the computer, leave iPod connected for several hours to charge the battery.

Note: iPod will not charge when connected to a computer that is turned off or is in sleep mode.
