The Apple Extreme 802.11n Enabler for Mac is available at the Apple Store Online or on the disc that comes with the Airport Extreme (802.11n) Base station. To tell if this software is installed on your computer:

  1. From the Finder's Go menu, select Utilities (or navigate to Applications/Utilities in the Finder).
  2. Open Network Utility.
  3. Click the Info tab if it is not selected.
  4. Select Network Interface (en1) from the pop up menu.
  5. In the section "Model: Wireless Network Adapter," if you see "802.11 a/b/g/n", then you have the 802.11n enabler installed. If you see "802.11 a/b/g" (without "n"), you do not have the 802.11n enabler installed.


Note: These Macs have 802.11n hardware built-in:

  • MacBook Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo
  • MacBook with Intel Core 2 Duo
  • Mac Pro with AirPort Extreme option
  • iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo (except the 17-inch, 1.83GHz iMac)
