Why is Apple extending subscription periods?
The transition from .Mac to MobileMe was rockier than we had hoped. We have extended the subscription period for eligible members by 30 days, free of charge, to express our appreciation for members' patience during the transition period. Am I eligible for the 30-day extension?
You are eligible if one of the following applies to you:
- you were a .Mac member whose account was active as of July 9, 2008
- you are a new MobileMe member who created your account on or before July 15, 2008 at 7:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time
When will this 30-day extension be applied to my account?
Your 30-day extension has already been applied to your account. You can check your account page on me.com to verify the change has occurred. After logging in, you should see "(30 days free)" next to your account's adjusted expiration date.
What if I was in a free trial period during the qualifying period above?
Your trial period has been extended an additional 30 days.
My account is up for expiration soon. What will happen to me?
Your account will not expire until you have reached the new expiration date that includes your 30-day extension. If you recently received an email stating your account will expire soon (or you saw similar messaging when using MobileMe), please ignore it.
My account was up for automatic renewal just before the extension was applied. What can I expect?
Your account should have renewed as normal and you should have been charged the applicable amount. The 30-day extension was then added to your active subscription free of charge.
I am eligible for an extension based on the above criteria, but my account expired before July 15, 2008 at 7:00pm PDT. How does this affect me?
To enable your 30-day extension, we re-activated your account. You may continue to use MobileMe until your new renewal date. If you still wish to cancel your account, please read these instructions.
I have purchased an upgrade. Will my upgrades also be extended?
The 30-day extension applies to any purchased upgrades, such as additional storage or a Family Pack upgrade.
I want to buy an upgrade. Will it also be extended?
Yes, any upgrades you purchase will be extended to your new contract date. However, note that upgrades cannot be purchased during the 30-day extension.
I got an email that says my MobileMe account is up for renewal soon. Is that true?
When we updated our database to reflect your new renewal end date you may have received emails that said your account was up for renewal. Now that the 30-day extension has been applied, you'll see the new expiration date for your subscription on your me.com account page.
I should have received the 30-day extension, but I didn't. What can I do?
If your account is eligible for the extension but did not receive the it, please contact the MobileMe support team for assistance.
I have an activation key. Will I lose my extension if I apply the key now?
If you are currently in your trial period, you will lose the remainder of your trial period --including any extensions-- as soon as you apply your activation key. If you already have a paid subscription, you can enter your key at anytime and Apple will automatically apply the key to renew your subscription after your extension period expires.
