On a Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, or Vista-based PC, you can use Apple Software Update for Windows to keep your Apple software up-to-date via the Internet. Apple software includes Safari, iTunes for Windows, Bonjour for Windows, and QuickTime for Windows.

Installing Apple Software Update

If you don't already have Software Update for Windows, it can be installed by downloading and installing iTunes for Windows, QuickTime for Windows, or Safari for Windows.

When installing, in the Installer Options window, be sure that "Install Apple Software Update to easily update iTunes and other Apple software" is checked (enabled).

Using Apple Software Update

To use Software Update for Windows, click the Start menu and select Apple Software Update. Available updates will be shown. Click Install to download and install them.

If no new updates are available, a dialog appears stating "Your software is up-to-date."
