iPod: Storing and reading notes
Summary
iPod isn't just for music—you can also store and read up to a thousand text notes.
Products Affected
iPod nano, iPod mini, iPod, iPod classic, iPod (5th generation)
To put text files onto iPod, it must first be enabled for use as a hard disk.
1. Save a document in any word-processing application as a text (.txt) file.
2. In the Macintosh Finder or in Windows Explorer, drag the file to the Notes folder on iPod.

Tip: Every word processor has a different way to save a text (sometimes known as ASCII or plain text) file. Check the manual or online help for your word processor. The example pictures below are for TextEdit in Mac OS X and WordPad in Windows XP.

In TextEdit: From the Format menu, choose Make Plain Text and then save the document.

In WordPad: On the File menu, click Save As. Then from the Save as type menu, click Text Document and then save the document.
To view notes on iPod, choose Extras > Notes.
