iTunes Store, Mac App Store, and iBooks Store: About your Apple ID and password
You can use your Apple ID and password to sign in, buy content, and authorize items you've purchased in the iTunes Store, Mac App Store, or iBooks Store.
Your Apple ID must be a valid email address (such as email@example.com). Keep the following in mind when you create your password:
- Your password must be at least eight characters including a number, an uppercase letter, and a lowercase letter.
- You can't use spaces, the same character three times in a row, your Apple ID, or a password you've used in the last year.
You can change your Apple ID, password, or personal information at the My Apple ID page by clicking Manage your Apple ID. Changes you make to your Apple ID while you're in iTunes, Mac App Store, or iBooks Store are recognized by other apps that use the same Apple ID (such as the Apple Online Store or iPhoto). You may need to verify your information the next time you use your Apple ID to purchase something in another app.
The primary address for your Apple ID is used to choose the correct country for you when you activate your iPhone and when you're in the Mac App Store, iTunes Store, iBooks Store, and apps that use the same Apple ID.
