Summary

Some external displays emit radio-frequency interference (RFI) that may affect the throughput of wireless networks that use the 2.4 GHz band.

Products Affected

MacBook Air (Original)

If your MacBook Air is closed and an external display is your only display, you may notice a reduction of throughput for wireless networks that use the 2.4 GHz band.

To optimize performance:

  1. Modify the base station to use another channel in the 2.4 GHz range.
  2. Modify the base station to use another frequency range. For example, if you are using an 802.11n-compliant base station, try using the 5 GHz range instead of the 2.4 GHz range.
  3. Reduce the distance between the base station and the MacBook Air.
